Ultrasonic waves making waves in the beauty scene, literally and figuratively.
The meteoric rise in ultrasonic facial therapies in recent years has shed light on ultrasound, the same technology used to scan pregnant women. Ultrasound refers to inaudible sounds with a frequency more significant than the limit of human hearing which is 20,000 Hz.

At Estetica, we have incorporated ultrasound technology into 2 of our treatments – Ultrasonic Scrubber for deep cleansing and Collagen Therapy for anti-ageing. Let’s find out more about how these sound waves are being used differently in each of these treatments to improve your skin health.
1. What is Ultrasonic Scrubber?
A safe and gentle treatment that uses ultrasound waves to loosen dead skin cells and debris quickly for a thorough cleanse.
If you thought that the silicone brush cleansing device you’ve been using produces ultrasonic waves, sorry you’ve probably been misled.
Why? Because ultrasonic cleansing requires a metal conductor to work.
How does it work?

Ultrasonic cleansing uses high-frequency, high-intensity sound waves to agitate the cleansing solution of water or solvent and produce bubbles. When the bubbles implode, vacuum energy in the form of heat and pressure is created, removing contaminants as a result.
What are the benefits?

2. What is Collagen Therapy?
Collagen Therapy uses high level sound technology to penetrate deep below the surface of the skin to stimulate collagen production, and firm and tighten skin. It is completely non-invasive and safe with no downtime.
How does it work?
It uses high-frequency, high-intensity sound waves to create heat energy to damage skin cells. This promotes cellular renewal and repair and stimulates collagen production.

Unlike other laser treatments that simply target the outer layers of skin, ultrasound therapy bypasses the skin’s surface to target the dermis layer where collagen is synthesised.
What are the benefits?

3. When to use which?
For oily, congested, uneven and bumpy skin, try: Ultrasonic Scrubber
Look no further if you’ve oily skin, clogged pores, comedones and dead skin cells. The Ultrasonic Scrubber treatment uses ultrasonic waves to gently unclog pores and slough off dead skin cells with zero pain and extractions.

It gives your pores a good thorough cleanse, leaving your skin fresh, clean and clear. We recommend doing this treatment before extraction to loosen accumulated dead skin cells and stubborn blackheads so that the extraction process will be easier and less painful.
For dry, saggy and wrinkled skin, try: Collagen Therapy
The Collagen Therapy is named after its power to synthesise collagen. It uses ultrasonic waves to produce heat waves and vibrations, deeply penetrate hyaluronic acid and stimulate collagen production to combat signs of ageing. This is a perfect treatment if you want to put off invasive treatments such as fillers or botox.

This treatment is super relaxing with a slightly warm sensation. You may even fall asleep during the process! We recommend it to anyone 25 years and above. Optimal results are achieved when paired with water-based ampoules that will be absorbed quickly by the skin.
So to answer the question right at the top, no your skin is not sound-proof! In fact, sound waves are excellent for your skin to deep cleanse and stimulate collagen production.

Thanks for tuning in. No matter which treatment you need, we swear by these two ultrasonic treatments to transform your skin. So try it for yourself today!
In good hands,
