Travelling somewhere? 6 ways to arrive looking fresh and amazing!
Every savvy traveller knows that good skincare is a MUST while travelling. No matter where you are travelling to, packing the right skincare products is as crucial as your choice of wardrobe. Unless you are one of the very few lucky people who will never have a pimple in your entire life, you can rest assured that frequent travel will wreck havoc on your skin. At high altitudes, the recycled dry cabin air can severely parch your skin. Believe it or not, you are also at risk of a sunburn every time you board an airplane as you’re that much closer to the sun (no kidding!)! So, here are 6 ways to keep your skin radiant and glowing instead of dehydrated and burnt!
1. Apply a serum before boarding:
Hydration is key when you are trapped in canned air 30,000 feet above ground. Applying a serum that delivers enhanced hydration and protection is therefore essential. A serum acts as a vehicle to deliver moisture deep within the layers of the skin while providing an occlusive seal to help it retain moisture.
Try Estetica’s Sensitive Pro Self-Defence Urgency Serum, a real emergency treatment serum that quickly soothes irritations, attenuates redness and stimulates the skin’s self-defence ability.
2. Forgo the foundation:
If you leave makeup on your skin while traveling, the dry air is likely to sap the moisture out if it, leaving your skin looking cakey and flaky. If you are uncomfortable to go au naturale, try a natural tinted moisturiser, then apply a bit of cream eye shadow and light mascara along with a little moisturising lip gloss.
An excellent choice for this would be ést.lab’s new water-based SunShield AQUA SPF 50, a multi-tasking sunscreen that delivers daily UV protection on top of moisturising, anti-oxidant, anti-ageing, soothing and brightening properties. Enhanced with a refreshing yet hydrating formula, this tinted moisturizer uses a combination of physical and organic UV filters for a full spectrum protection against UVB (rays that cause sunburn) and UVA (rays that cause ageing) rays. Paraben-free, it’s suitable even for those with oily and sensitive skin as its lightweight, airy texture allows your pores to breathe with ease. Did we mention it also provides your skin with a dewy finish?
3. Skip the mist:
Many people spray their skin with a hydrating mist to counteract dryness on the go. The problem is, when the air is dry, it looks for water wherever it can. So, when you spray your skin with a mist on a plane, it feels good for a minute but as the water evaporates, your skin dries out even more! Instead, try applying another layer of moisturiser, either with a moisturiser that’s richer than usual or with a bit more of your usual product, to protect your epidermis from drying out. Be sure to apply moisturizer on your neck and hands as well!
Estetica’s Hydra Clinic Intensive Repair Nourishing Cream is a moisture and lipid refill treatment with amazing reconstructive power to provide the skin with all the essential nutrients for maximum nutrition and hydration.
4. Hydrate your skin:
Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate the body and keep your cells healthy. Applying a mask with high penetrative ability can also help to restore your skin’s moisture and luminosity. Let the mask work its magic while you enjoy the inflight entertainment (especially if it’s lights-out!)
Use ést.lab’s VitaLift A+ Brillage Nano-Biocellulose Face Mask, that is made of nano-grade organic fibres so it fits snugly on your skin to allow maximum penetration for greater efficacy. Soaked in a cocktail of active ingredients to deliver multiple benefits to your skin, it locks in moisture deep within your skin and has amazing anti-ageing and brightening results.
5. Chill out puffy eyes:
Cabin pressure can cause a host of ugly issues, the main one being swelling. And because the skin around the eye contours is so thin and delicate, puffy eyes caused by fluid retention are usually the first thing people notice when they see you coming off your flight!
To reduce under-eye puffiness after a long haul flight, cooling and energizing eye creams like ést.lab’s OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence which will give you the power to walk off any plane looking and feeling fresh. Winner of Best Eye Essence in multiple beauty awards… need we say more?
Psst…Keep your eyes peeled for our re-formulated eye essence launching very soon!
6. Exfoliate dull skin:
Upon arrival, if your complexion is looking dull and lacklustre, use a mild facial scrub to gently remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin that have accumulated during the flight.
You don’t have to resort to extreme measures (see above). Just scrub on ést.lab’s LumiWhite Brightening Scrub to gently exfoliate dull surface cells & accumulated impurities to reveal a visibly smoother & fairer complexion. It also primes the skin to receive maximum benefits of your total skincare regime.
And remember (!) look for travel-sized containers (max. 100ml) for skincare products that you’re bringing on board the plane with you. Try your best to stick to your usual beauty routine during travels to keep your skin looking its best. Also, cut back on caffeine and alcohol consumption and remember to keep your face protected from extreme weather conditions.
P.S. before your next adventure, be sure to bring along our fabulous products and ensure you are instagram-ready upon touch down!
Happy and safe travels!
In good hands,
